In this fun and creative two-hour workshop, children will learn the fundamentals of sculpting with colorful polymer clay while creating their very own miniature three-dimensional ornament or gift to treasure, give to someone special, or display at home.
At the beginning of class, each child will choose from a variety of sample projects and display pieces designed by our instructors. Whether they choose an adorable woodland animal, tiny succulent, mushroom, bird, miniature dessert, flower, or whimsical character, they’ll receive step-by-step guidance to bring their chosen creation to life.
Each sculpture will be specially prepared to become a keepsake ornament or gift. Children will learn how to add a small metal loop to their creation, allowing them to attach a ribbon and hang it on the Christmas tree or use it as a decorative keepsake. The loop can also be used to attach a keychain, making their creation something they can carry and enjoy all year long.
Throughout the class, students will learn how to shape basic forms, blend clay seamlessly, add texture, and use sculpting tools to create expressive details. As they work, they’ll strengthen fine motor skills, creativity, observation, and confidence while discovering the joy of hand-building with clay.
